Azerbaijan Grand Prix
A Bit of Background:
Located on the shores of the Caspian Sea, The Baku City street circuit was a welcome addition to the F1 calendar in 2016 and provides a stunning backdrop to an F1 race.
The modern metropolis of skyscrapers in the business district sits directly alongside the medieval walls of the old city, taking Formula One cars on a 6km time-travelling adventure over each lap with an exceptionally long straight along the Baku shoreline linking the two.
What Makes Baku Unique:
This is a circuit of two halves. The long and wide straights allow cars to run three abreast and provide the ultimate slipstreaming opportunities, whilst the tight and twisty sections that run through the old town are quick to punish those who take their eye off the ball. Finding the optimum set-up can be a dauting task and finding the correct compromise to navigate the barriers is the key to success.
