Qatar Grand Prix
A Bit of Background
Formula One’s inaugural Qatar Grand Prix takes place at the Losail International Circuit for round 20 of the 2021 FIA Formula One World Championship. Located 22 miles north of the capital city of Doha, the circuit is well versed in hosting high-speed racing, having become a permanent fixture on the MotoGP calendar in 2004. Whilst 2021 will mark Formula One’s first visit to Qatar it will not be the last, with a 10-year agreement having been signed for the sport to race in the Middle Eastern country from 2023 onwards.
What Makes Qatar Unique?
Several adaptations have been made ahead of Formula One’s maiden outing at the Losail International Circuit, with a new pitlane entrance and additional safety measures welcoming the sport. The race itself will be held at dusk and the circuit has a number of medium and high-speed corners, punctuated by an over one kilometre long main straight, which should provide an interesting test for both the car and the drivers.
